Alkoomi Jarrah Shiraz 2010
A fine, leaner Cornas-like shiraz whose smoky, rather meaty and herbal aspects are lifted by a cracked pepper quality. Musky and dusty, itÕs scented with blue flowers, blood plums and redcurrants with background of fresh chocolate/vanilla oak. Long and smooth, its core of lightly baked fruit extends over a fine, dusty spine towards an elegant, soft and savoury finish. It should settle with time.

Winery
Alkoomi
Alkoomi was one of the founding vineyards of the Great Southern region. Located in the northern Frankland River sub region, its recent vintages are returning to the style and structure upon which they developed their reputation. Leading the current releases are the Melaleuca Riesling from 2016 (95/100, drink 2028-2036), a wine of classical perfume, purity and longevity, plus the elegant and restrained Blackbutt blend of red Bordeaux varieties from 2010.
