Blue Pyrenees
Established in 1963 by Remy Martin, Blue Pyrenees Estate was among the modern Australian wine industry's first ventures into cool climate viticulture. Today it remains as an impressive French-inspired edifice, but its key feature is undoubtedly its large vineyard which occupies a diverse range of soils, slopes and aspects. The current releases continue the recent improvements at Blue Pyrenees as Andrew Koerner refines a style of more elegance, charm and savoury quality amongst the reds and fashions a leaner, fresher and more vibrant collection of sparkling wines. I'm actually sorry to see a reduction in the price of the very worthy, savoury and stylish Section one Shiraz. It's a fine wine that represents great value for under $40 and shows what quality Pyrenees fruit can achieve.
