Unabashed with its depth of fruit and flavour, here's a wine of perfume, generosity and class. Scented with grapefruit, lemon blossom and yellow floral notes backed by vanilla/bubblegum oak, it reveals a creamy, faintly meaty funkiness and a spicy lift of ginger and cinnamon. Luscious, vibrant and complex, it moves seamlessly over a fine crunchiness towards a lingering, savoury finish of mouthwatering acids. About as far from the stripped contemporary Australian chardonnay as you can get.

St Huberts
St Huberts was redeveloped in the late 1970s. It shares its name and much of its identification with one of the three grand properties that dominated Yarra viticulture in the 1800s, even though its vineyards are planted next to, and not on the original St Huberts site. Today it's one of another group of three, since with Yarra Ridge and Coldstream Hills, it is owned by Treasury Wine Estates. As its current releases illustrate, its wines are classically styled, restrained and elegant, with pure youthful fruit qualities left to develop slowly in the bottle. A delightful exception to this is the complex and rather funky 2014 Roussanne, which is absolutely ready to enjoy.
