Having missed the difficult 2011 vintage, the Coonawarra trio rebounded in 2012 and then in 2013 with some sound, well-made wines that include the finest Limestone Ridge (the 2013) for many a year. In fact, as a group, the 2013 collection is the closest we have seen to the quality of the 1998s, whose release seems sadly like yesterday but whose quality remains paramount. The good news for followers of these wines, and some still certainly remain, is that on a recent trip to Coonawarra I saw some very significant regeneration taking place at the St George and Limestone Ridge vineyards, there being of course (despite the infamous press kit accompanying its initial wine) no Pyrus vineyard.
