Winery
Stonier
One of the first, today Stonier is one of the largest quality winemakers on the Mornington Peninsula. Recent vintages suggest it has also recaptured the finesse and intensity that established it as one of Victoria’s finest wineries. Stonier has moved uncompromisingly towards a more ethereal, whole bunch style of pinot that while being a high-risk strategy in cooler years can result in wines of considerable charm in normal seasons, even if they do require time in the cellar to find balance and harmony. The top-drawer Windmill Vineyard is remarkably consistent and balanced, even if it takes times to flesh out. Stonier's chardonnays also have a particular stamp of lemony fruit, complex leesy notes and moderate levels of malolactic influence which also require time in the cellar to integrate fully with the other components of the wine.
