Rockford Rifle Range Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

A surprisingly rich and concentrated cabernet from a very difficult season for this variety. Its lightly herbal, violet-like aromas of small black and red berries are backed by restrained vanilla/cedary oak with reductive, meaty undertones. Smooth and juicy, framed by velvet tannins, its lively expression of vibrant blackberries, dark plums and sweet cedary oak finishes long and persistent, without a sign of overripeness or stress.

Winery

Rockford
Rockford is a dedicated small Barossa maker and a committed supporter of the regionŐs small vineyards and their owners. Its wines are made with a refreshing disregard for trends and fashion and are bottled without artefact or manipulation. That is not to suggest that they are made and assembled without great care, experience and dedication, but these are essentially ÔnaturalŐ wines that faithfully reflect their sites and seasons. The new releases contain an elegant and surprisingly compete Basket Press Shiraz from 2011, plus from 2012 the finest collection of 'lesser' reds for several years. Furthermore, the latest disgorging of Black Shiraz is a classic.
