Brilliant, beautifully balanced, focused and supple shiraz, easy to enjoy now but ideally locked away for twenty years. Deep, musky and perfumed, its spicy and accentuated cassis, plum and blueberry shiraz flavours are balanced by chocolate/cedary oak and fine, tight-knit tannins. It’s powerful, yet fine and seamless, with absolutely nothing sticking out where it shouldn’t.

Rockford is a dedicated small Barossa maker and a committed supporter of the region’s small vineyards and their owners. Its wines are made with a refreshing disregard for trends and fashion and are bottled without artefact or manipulation. That is not to suggest that they are made and assembled without great care, experience and dedication, but these are essentially ‘natural’ wines that faithfully reflect their sites and seasons. The Basket Press and Black Shiraz have rightly become regional classics
