Handsomely oaked, this ripe and forward shiraz has a dark, smoky bouquet of deep red and black fruits, minerals and raisins backed by nuances of cola, dark chocolate, mint and menthol. ItÕs smooth and polished, dripping with intense flavours of blackberries, cassis and dark plums knit with sweet cedar/vanilla oak and supported by a fine, firmish backbone. It finishes with a lingering core of fruit laced with nuances of iodide and licorice.

A small maker of a typically regional selection of Clare Valley table wines, Pauletts is reinventing itself from a quality perspective. Its trio of finely crafted, elegant rieslings represent the real strength of the brand, while the rich and deeply flavoured Andreas Shiraz is typically firm and cellarworthy. The reserve level Antonina Riesling has now hit a very high level of quality for two consecutive seasons, elevating Pauletts into the region's elite with this signature white variety.
