Paradise IV Dardel Shiraz 2010
Exceptionally stylish, willowy and elegant, crafted in a style reminiscent of Cote-Rotie. Deep, faintly peppery aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, dark plums and fine-grained, deeply perfumed oak are lifted by scents of blue flowers, musk, charcuterie meats and Indian spices. Smooth and sensuous, its supple and beautifully measured palate of translucent fruit, spice and tightly knit oak is supported by fine, crunchy tannins, finishing very long and savoury, with lingering suggestions of mineral. Retasted in February 2025, it’s heady and spicy, delivering an elegant, fine and profoundly intense core of vivacious fruit, finishing savory, with licorice qualities. A little like the world’s smoothest roast lamb and rosemary.

Paradise IV
Paradise IV is one of the most sought-after labels in Victorian wine. It sits at the cutting edge of where cool climate Victoria is destined to head - towards distinctive and unique expressions of special terroirs using a carefully chosen marriage of site, variety and philosophy. The Chardonnay is by some margin the finest from the Geelong region while the elegant, medium-weight and savoury Dardel Shiraz is a wine of international stature and greatness. Sadly, putting it mildly, its owners ripped up the vineyard prior to the 2019 harvest. Fortunately, for the immediate future at least, the spectacular 2017 vintage is in barrel and the 2018 wines are happily brooding in oak.
