It opens up a little more on the palate, revealing a pleasing lusciousness and plumpness of slightly cooked and meaty fruit, although it lacks genuine length. Backed by sweet caramel-like oak, it might yet evolve out of its faintly vegetal nature.

Oliver's Taranga crafts high-class McLaren Vale reds from shiraz, grenache, tempranillo and cabernet sauvignon that reflect Corrina Wright's ability to deliver exceptional regional flavour from a patchwork of different vineyard sites without sacrificing an ounce of elegance or longevity. She also imparts delightful earthy and reductive complexity into the savoury, waxy Fiano while retaining charming freshness and focus in the Vermentino. The vineyard's consistency is evident throughout the 2013 red releases.
