With a hint of a blue edge that grenache can occasionally give a wine, this deepish, musky and spicy Rhone blend unfolds an earthy, faintly leathery bouquet of cranberries, redcurrants, blood plums and blueberries, becoming more floral as it opens. Medium to fullish in weight, it’s long, supple and shapely, with a vivacious core of fruit evenly moving down a fine, sandpapery spine towards a savoury finish featuring a hint of saline and a lingering note of licorice. Beautifully measured, without a hint of jamminess.
