Sweet, smooth and juicy, its palate has some flesh and pleasing fine-grained support, presenting lively up-front and slightly confectionary flavours of cherry and berries. Fine and supple, with a herbal thread beneath, it’s a delightful wine for shorter term cellaring.

Winery
Mount Mary
Mount Mary is one of the Yarra Valley's iconic estates. Developed by Dr John Middleton in the late 1960s, it has always followed its own path, drawing inspiration from France and the US. Shunning higher levels of alcohol and overt oak influence are central to the Mount Mary concept of balance and quality, ideals that have been retained by grandson Sam Middleton and his team. The 2013 red releases are stellar indeed, with the Quintet revealing a little more power and structure than the wines of yesteryear, but with classical balance and style, still weighing in at under 13%.
