Mount Horrocks Shiraz 2002

A good effort from a very cool vintage, this dusty, firm and slightly sappy shiraz has a peppery aroma of cassis, plums and mulberries backed by cedar/vanilla oak and strong herbal characters of snow peas and capsicum. Moderately full in weight, delivering a pleasing length of lively blackberry and blackcurrant flavours, it is however framed by a slightly raw extract and finishes with lingering vegetal, capsicum-like undertones.

Winery

Mount Horrocks
Mount Horrocks is a long-established small Clare Valley producer whose range includes a delightfully fresh and faintly smoky barrel-fermented Semillon and the popular regional dessert wine benchmark of Cordon Cut Riesling. While its shapely Riesling is typical of the region, the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon each delivered finely crafted wines from the 2013 vintage.
