An early-drinking, rather vegetal cabernet whose capsicum-like aromas of cassis and sweet vanilla/cedar oak precede a sappy, gentle palate whose greenish flavours of small berries and plums are gently oaked and underpinned by a fine, fragile extract. It finishes slightly edgy and metallic.

Mount Horrocks
Mount Horrocks is a long-established small Clare Valley producer whose range includes a delightfully fresh and faintly smoky barrel-fermented Semillon and the popular regional dessert wine benchmark of Cordon Cut Riesling. While its shapely Riesling is typical of the region, the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon each delivered finely crafted wines from the 2013 vintage.
