Mount Avoca
Mount Avoca is a mature vineyard initially developed by John and Arda Barry. It made its name for its elegant, smooth and spicy Shiraz at a time when shiraz was meant to be South Australian and bold, so it can claim to have been ahead of the current trend for subtle, savoury shiraz from cooler climates. The Cabernet Sauvignon is typically elegant and minty, the Chardonnay fresh and flavoursome, while the Sauvignon Blanc can be vibrant and juicy. The 2012 Shiraz is a delightfully peppery and elegant expression of the estate's leading wine.
