Leasingham
One of the Clare ValleyŐs iconic labels, Leasingham is on one hand releasing wines of spectacular quality, but on the other is struggling to maintain a presence at the top of the market due to some perhaps ill-advised sales of vineyards by its previous management. The Bin wines typically represent extraordinary value, but the 2011 reds don't meet the established grade. Released with more age, the Classic Clare Riesling consistently delivers what its name ambitiously suggests, and is but a single great release from my highest quality level. Made by Ed Carr, the Sparkling Shiraz under the same range has been remarkably good and consistent but is let down with the advanced 2008 release that is very reflective of its hot vintage.
