Jim Barry Pb Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2008

Rustic and meaty, with a fiery, leathery bouquet whose sweet aromas of black and red berries, plums and fresh cedar/vanilla oak reveal minty undertones of dried herbs, a hint of spice and chocolate. ItÕs plush and forward, with a profoundly ripened and slightly baked and overcooked presence of plums and berries, currants and raisins supported by firm, fine-grained tannins.

Winery

Jim Barry
Jim Barry is a well-established and traditional maker of Clare Valley reds and riesling, although it has developed a vineyard on the former Penola cricket ground in the southern sector of Coonawarra, today the source of the minty First XI Cabernet Sauvignon. Dating back nearly 30 years, The Armagh was amongst the first of the so-called 'Grange pretenders'. Since that time it has produced a number of classic releases, none of which have been better than the truly spectacular 2010 and 2012 vintage, the two finest yet. While the rieslings, led by The Florita, maintain exceptional consistency and focus, there's been a real development towards elegance and finesse in the reds since 2009. Led by its 2012 vintage, the Benbournie Cabernet Sauvignon is one of several fine examples. The company continues to deliver a variety of reliable and quality red wines plus a consistently excellent collection of rieslig.
