Henry's Drive
Padthaway is a very large wine region but one not entirely over-populated by small wine companies. HenryŐs Drive emerged as part of Robert ParkerŐs love affair with alcoholic South Australian shiraz, but today under different ownership and in an age of entirely different wine fashion, it is perhaps looking to establish a viable long-term identity. I am not a fan of the more cooked, alcoholic and soupy Reserve Shiraz from this maker, and far prefer the significantly better balanced and more natural ÔstandardŐ Shiraz, of which the finely balanced and vivacious vintage is a charming example.
