Coldstream Hills Pinot Noir 2002
Rather stewed and herbaceous pinot whose raspberry/cherry-like fruit is supported to an extent by some sweet mocha and vanilla oak, but still appears dilute and rather weedy in the middle of the palate. Failed to ripen fully, finishing sappy and green-edged.

Winery
Coldstream Hills
A world class cool climate producer, Coldstream Hills was founded by wine writer James Halliday, who retains an association with this brand that now fits so neatly into Treasury Wine Estates' extensive folio. By any measure it is now a celebrated brand and one of true international standard, releasing wines of seamless balance and harmony. Now having reached its 30th anniversary, it's perhaps time it was given the credit it's due. Winemaker Andrew Fleming now has a green light to explore individual sites, as witnessed by the steadily increasing number of single vineyard wines under this label. Coldstream Hills has the luxury of only releasing Reserve level and single site wines when quality commands it, so is today one of the most dependable makers of Yarra Valley wine with a distinctive smooth, creamy and generously flavoured house style.
