Bleasdale Second Innings Malbec 2003

Firm and substantial, with slightly cooked and varnishy aromas of raspberries, cassis and dusty vegetal undertones before a juicy, ripe and pliant palate. Despite some pleasing flavours of plums and berries, creamy vanilla oak, good length and structure, it does perhaps lack complexity. Finishing earthy and leathery, it’s beginning to age and should be enjoyed while still robust.

Winery

Bleasdale represents much of the tradition and history of the Langhorne Creek region, and has a proud record of producing flavoursome, sweetly fruited red wines of elegance and longevity, not to mention remarkable value for money. The 2014 collection from Bleasdale is possibly its finest yet. Two examples of note, which reflect the company's steady rise as a maker of wines of genuine finesse are the complex, fragrant and Rh™ne-inspired Powder Monkey Shiraz and the rather fiery and expressive Generations Malbec.
