Alkoomi Jarrah Shiraz 2003
Dark, spicy, deeply flavoured and brooding, this leathery and rustic shiraz presents meaty flavours of blackberries, mulberries and plums with cedary oak over musky and rather reductive undertones. ItÕs long, linear, fine and quite restrained, marrying sweet berry fruit with pencil shavings-like oak, but appears to have been slightly over-protected from oxygen, of which it could perhaps have seen more.

Winery
Alkoomi
Alkoomi was one of the founding vineyards of the Great Southern region. Located in the northern Frankland River sub region, its recent vintages are returning to the style and structure upon which they developed their reputation. Leading the current releases are the Melaleuca Riesling from 2016 (95/100, drink 2028-2036), a wine of classical perfume, purity and longevity, plus the elegant and restrained Blackbutt blend of red Bordeaux varieties from 2010.
