Elegant, fine and racy, this fruit-driven young chardonnay still reveals plenty of smoky, bacony and funky complexity. Zesty aromas of grapefruit, lemon rind, white peach, apple and pear overlie smoky suggestions of vanilla oak and lime zest. Its long, elegant palate of piercingly fresh and crunchy fruit finishes long and focused, tangy and sherbet-like, with meaty, waxy and savoury elements.
A complex, Macon-like chardonnay with a delicate, waxy and nutty perfume of grapefruit, melon and floral notes backed by suggestions of struck match, smoked bacon and funky, creamy leesy notes. Initially round and generous, with a layered, crunchy presence of brightly-lit fruit, it extends in a leaner fashion towards a savoury finish whose long, lingering core of melon and citrusy flavour is punctuated by a tingling acidity and a drying minerality.
Complex, wild and unusual Ð a genuine Chablis-like effort with Tasmanian chardonnay Ð with an edgy and rather nutty bouquet of evolved lanolin and waxy influences over light notes of grapefruit, melon and lemon. Fine and very elegant, its lean expression of citrus tart and melon flavour drives long and focused towards a savoury finish of trim acidity and lingering meaty and earthy aspects.
An evolving, forward and short-term wine lacking its customary focus and length. Waxy and creamy, its smoky and reductive, rather meaty bouquet of grapefruit, peach and melon precedes a round but rather forward palate of candied, creme brle-like fruit.
Peach, grapefruit and vanilla oak with smoky, charcuterie-like aromas, coriander and cinnamon; round and voluptuous, long and gentle, it seamlessly marries stonefruit, citrus with toasty, spicy undertones, finishing with purity and a refreshing lemony acidity.
Backed by scents of smoked bacon, creme caramel and creamy nougat-like complexity, its pristine aromas of grapefruit, lemon and yellow peach knit tightly with fresh vanilla/butter oak. Long and fluffy, with a pristine core of citrusy fruit and toasty cashew/vanilla oak, it culminates in a gentle, supple finish of mouthwatering acids. A significant style change from the wilder, more funky expressions of previous vintages.
