A stylish and structured merlot with a genuinely gravely presence. backed by hints of mint and eucalypt, its dark aromas of plums, cherries redcurrants and bay leaf knit tightly with lightly toasty and pretty classy chocolate/vanilla oak. Framed by fine, powdery tannin, its deep, dark and meaty palate reveals an intense and persistent core of vibrant but tightly controlled berry and sour plum fruit underpinned by cedar/chocolate oak, finishing long and savoury.
A polished, if rather jammy and slightly baked and oaky dry red that slowly opens out to reveal a deep, underlying core of juicy, ripe fruit. Its meaty, minty bouquet of blackberries, dark cherries, plums and cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak reveals nuances of baked earth. Sumptuously and profoundly ripened, bordering porty, its deep, dark fruit and smooth oak are underpinned by firmish, fine-grained tannins. It needs plenty of aeration to flesh out its mid palate.
Dull, flat and vegetal, medium in weight, with a polished, oaky presence of light pruney fruit that lacks structure, length, freshness and focus.
Smoky, elevated aromas of dark plums, cherries and raisins with undertones of grilled nuts precede a smooth, polished palate of medium to full body, length and depth. While its oak is rather sweet and obvious, its silky expression of dark plum and cherry flavour moves with length and elegance towards a savoury finish. ItÕs perhaps a little awkward now, but should cellar with charm.
A faintly minty, herbal fragrance of sweet, confiture-like dark cherries, dark plums and cassis tightly knit with sweet cedary oak overlies a faintly herbal note. ItÕs smooth and polished, with an unctuous, pastille-like presence of plush fruit supported by tight-grained cedary oak and fine-grained tannins, finishing with balance and finesse.
Smooth, polished and oaky, with a faintly minty and herbal presence of cassis, currant, prunes and small red berries knit with polished, vanilla and pine needle-like cooperage. Very ripe and bordering jammy, itÕs framed by a fine, drying extract. With age it has become more vivacious and juicy, but it remains too oaky for an even higher rating.
Minty, faintly herbal aromas of dark cherries, redcurrant and cedary oak precedes a sweet, rather over-ripened and confectionery palate whose plush, juicy fruit is supported by a fine, loose-knit backbone. It finishes lacking shape and focus, with lingering herbal and menthol-like notes.
