A deeply, densely flavoured shiraz of exceptional elegance and tightness. Briary and spicy, its heady aromas of red cherries, dark berries and plums are lifted by assertive floral and peppery qualities. An opulent expression of sour, dark cherries and plums is framed by fine-grained and velvet tannins and refreshing acidity, finishing long and savoury. Remarkably fine and elegant for its depth of flavour.
A superb wine of exceptional presence, structure and underlying strength. Still very closed and brooding, its alluring bouquet slowly reveals layers of dark berries, plums, cedary oak, dark chocolate and spicy suggestions of cloves, nutmeg and white pepper. Long and sumptuous, its tightly focused and spicy, slightly meaty and dark-fruited palate is framed by a drying spine of loose-knit tannin. Very youthful indeed.
Rather closed, firm and fractionally raw, this is a very fine shiraz from such a hot vintage. Its meaty, slightly jammy expression of dark plums, currants and blackberries overlies suggestions of iodide and a ferrous, fine-grained extract of astringent tannin. It retains layers of clear, bright fruit, and is likely to evolve and open up in future.
An excellent dark-fruited, regional wine whose deep, spicy expression of plums and blackberries reveals smoky undertones of charcuterie meats and minerals, dark chocolate/cedar oak and cloves. Framed by fine, grainy tannin, its deep, sumptuous palate drips with intense, concentrated flavour, delivering a lingering dark-fruited core of fruit, finishing long, mineral and drying.
A long, silky and slightly herbal Great Western shiraz whose vibrant and pristine perfume of violets, cassis, blackberries and mulberries is packed with sneezy black pepper and lifted by sweet vanilla/chocolate oak. Arrestingly musky and spicy, it’s penetratively flavoured with small black and blue berry flavours over nuances of licorice and forest floor. It’s elegantly structured around a fine-grained spine of smooth tannins. Simultaneously concentrated, supple and nimble, it’s certain to develop exceptionally well in the bottle.
