There’s a deep floral perfume plus a meaty, stony aspect that will become more assertive with time. Supported by a fine, drying undercarriage, it reveals a rich core of cranberries and dark plums. As for the value? Astonishing.

$28.00Jeremy’s score 92/100Punchy, pastille-like aromas of redcurrants, blood plums, cranberries and star anise are lifted by sweet floral scents and backed by earthy, meaty nuances. Medium to fullish in weight, it’s long, smooth and juicy – almost a grenache sorbet in a bottle – with a wild, expressive core of almost bloody fruit underpinned by a fine, powdery spine. A really fine alternative to good southern Rhone.
