Earthy, complex and rather reductive cool climate shiraz whose meaty aromas of licorice, black plums, small dark berries and chocolate oak are dark and brooding. There’s plenty of spice about its pliant, creamy palate which is brightly lit with intense small fruits, plums and prunes, before a lingering and finely integrated savoury finish.
Ultra-ripe aromas of slightly stressed and shrivelled black fruits with pencil-shavings wood and some meaty, horse hair influences. Spicy, earthy and meaty, with a long and moderately full palate of concentrated dark fruits, chocolate and treacle, polished cedar/vanilla oak and licorice-like undertones. Dries out at the finish, but should make good shorter term drinking.
Its perfume of cassis, violets, plums and blackberries overlies sweet chocolate/vanilla/cedar oak qualities and distinctive meaty, leathery and earthy nuances. It’s long and well structured, delivering a complete palate of dark plum, cassis and mulberry-like fruit and sweet oak framed by firmish backbone of fine-grained tannins. Attractively flavoured and well balanced.
Dark, spicy, deeply flavoured and brooding, this leathery and rustic shiraz presents meaty flavours of blackberries, mulberries and plums with cedary oak over musky and rather reductive undertones. ItÕs long, linear, fine and quite restrained, marrying sweet berry fruit with pencil shavings-like oak, but appears to have been slightly over-protected from oxygen, of which it could perhaps have seen more.
A finely balanced, earthy and savoury shiraz in an earthy, Rho_ney style. Evolved, pungent and meaty, its alluring aromas of dark plums, berries and white pepper reveal gamey undertones. ItÕs smooth and unctuous, elegant and fine-grained, with a deep, dark fruitfulness knit tightly with firm, pliant tannins and polished cedar/vanilla oak, finishing with length, concentration and a hint of iodide.
A dark, earthy shiraz whose fiery aromas of small dark berries and plums, pepper and spice are backed by suggestions of game meats, walnut and dark chocolate. Full-flavoured and medium to full-bodied, itÕs smooth and polished, delivering a long, palate-staining presence of black fruit and smoky, creamy chocolatey oak framed by fine-grained tannins, finishing with savoury, almost saline qualities.
A fine, leaner Cornas-like shiraz whose smoky, rather meaty and herbal aspects are lifted by a cracked pepper quality. Musky and dusty, itÕs scented with blue flowers, blood plums and redcurrants with background of fresh chocolate/vanilla oak. Long and smooth, its core of lightly baked fruit extends over a fine, dusty spine towards an elegant, soft and savoury finish. It should settle with time.
Gentle and savoury, with a restrained, leathery and peppery bouquet of spicy black and red fruits, earthy notes, cedary oak and a faint meatiness. Underpinned by surprisingly firm and drying tannins, its medium-bodied, fine-grained palate reveals notes of cola and dried herbs, finishing with moderate length and emphasis.
Medium to fullish in weight, with attractive black and red berry and dark plum flavour backed by fine, powdery tannins and rather planky oak that almost entirely flattens its charming fruit.
