Lightly peppery perfumed and musky this sweet almost jammy and over-cooked Coonawarra merlot is flavoured with raspberries rhubarb and red berry confection and supported by smoky spicy vanilla oak It can’t hide some greenish edges but presents rather a firm strong palate with generosity and depth
Sweet aromas of plums blackberries and mulberries are supported by cedarvanilla oak with slightly sweaty meaty animal-like undertones Soft and fine-grained the palate reveals dark briary dark cherry plum and blackberry fruit backed by assertive cedarchocolate oak finishing savoury and meaty with suggestions of minerals and dried herbs A little greenish the wine has good weight and varietal integrity
Charming elegant and varietal this vibrant young merlot has a violet-like fragrance of dark cherries and cedarmocha oak over restrained nuances of undergrowth Supported by fine and tight-knit tannin it’s long and supple delivering a lingering core of intense fruit
