A promising young pinot whose heady perfume of dark berries, cherries and earthy, meaty undertones of mint, musk and animal hide precede a long, luscious palate whose slightly sour-edged flavours of plums, berries and currants overlie a fine chassis of dusty tannin. ItÕs savoury and meaty, with an emphatically rich and lingering finish.
Assertive and deeply ripened, this spicy, rather musky young pinot has a slightly hot, spirity aspect and a faintly overcooked meatiness. Scented with dark cherries and redcurrants backed by nuances of menthol and dried herbs, it presents a firmish, powdery palate with intense jammy flavours of plums and berries that lacks genuine polish and finesse.
Very elegant and supple, with a sweet floral perfume of fresh dark cherries and raspberries backed by musky
nuances of briar and blackberries, cloves and mint, this young pinot has a fine, powdery spine, a pleasing length of fruit and just a hint of herbal influence.
Still very fragile and yet to flesh out, this elegant, supple and translucently bright pinot boasts genuine length, balance and structure. Scented with spicy, floral aromas of red cherries raspberries, strawberries and creamy vanilla oak, it reveals a youthful herbal aspect. Supported by dusty tannins and fine-grained, cedary oak, its long, even palate of bright cherry/berry flavour finishes with focus and a gentle acidity.
Richly flavoured and powerfully structured, this sleeper of a pinot has become an assertive, Volnay-styled wine of complexity and character. It’s heady and spicy, with layers of rich red and black berry/plum flavour that still retains some primary quality. Also sporting some faintly meaty, gamey development and underpinned by a firmish, grainy spine, it has developed length and power plus some remarkable varietal expression. A truly stellar and genuinely savoury wine, and one I did not predict would evolve into this standard. Happy to admit I was wrong!
Re-tasted at nine years of age, this solid, punchy pinot has evolved plenty of funky and leathery complexity to complement its deep core of red and black cherries and berries. Opulently fragrant and heady, it’s medium to fullish in weight but long and luscious, with a vivacious core of black, blue and red fruits that extends down a fine, slatey spine. Long and entirely complete, it finishes with slaine and savoury qualities, plus a lingering note of red licorice.
