ItÕs firm and drying, sumptuous but surprisingly elegant, with deep, powerful fruit that flows easily down the palate towards its lively and persistent finish of lingering flavours and clean acidity.
My vote for the finest Armagh ever unfolds a deeply layered, briary bouquet of densely packed dark berries, plums, dark chocolates, mocha and coffee grounds lifted by pristine floral aromas and minty notes. ItÕs supremely smooth, sumptuous and remarkably elegant given the sheer depth and richness of its fruit. Tightly wound around a pliant spine of firm, dusty tannins, it extends long, polished and seamless towards a finish of exceptional poise and balance.
A smooth, polished and elegant shiraz of artful balance and restraint. Steeped in alluring scents of mulberries, raspberries, cassis and blue flowers, itÕs scented with charry oak and suggestions of fennel. Its pristine, translucent flavours of blackberries, dark plums and blueberries knit seamlessly with smoky chocolate/vanilla oak, while a fine, firmish spine of willowy tannins contributes genuine structure and presence. While it will certainly build richness and depth, this represents a wonderfully stylish evolution of this wine.
Rather closed but deeply flavoured, this powerful and profoundly ripened young shiraz just needs patience. Its spicy, earthy aromas of fiery red berries, dark plums and cedary oak open to reveal rustic and leathery development. Firm and grainy, with a fine length of densely packed, spicy fruit and genuine structure, itÕs presently quite lean and introverted, although thereÕs a faint jamminess throughout. It slowly unfolds more volume and fruit sweetness and will certainly flesh out considerably with time.
