Fine, elegant and focused, with a slightly funky perfume of lavender and iris, lime juice, ruby grapefruit and pawpaw, backed by notes of chalk and spice. ItÕs a taut, lean high acid style with a focused presence of tangy citrus fruit underpinned by a fine minerality and chalkiness. Very long and slatey, it finishes with refreshing acidity and persistent lemon and lime juice flavour.
A brilliant wine, a great example of Clare riesling and the finest example from this maker I have tasted. Scented with a delicate, essential perfume of pear, apple, lime juice and lemon lifted by aromas of lavender and white flowers, itÕs deeply flavoured, layered and superbly structured. Sporting a wondrous depth of citrusy fruit with a hint of white peach and a fine, schisty undercarriage, itÕs initially assertive, then becomes exceptionally long, persistent and streamlined.
Reserved and gentle, with a delicate perfume of rose petals, lime blossom, chalk and mineral, this elegant, finely textured riesling marries peach, apple and pear-like flavour with citrusy qualities. ItÕs long and chalky, with an even length of vibrant fruit underpinned by a fine crunchiness, finishing with faintly mineral and briny aspects plus a lime juice acidity.
Delicate and faintly tropical, with faintly meaty, funky notes, its pungent, slightly reductive and citrusy bouquet is lifted by scents of white flowers and lavender. Translucently pure, with pristine flavours of apple, lime juice and lemony fruit, its excellent length of flavour is tightly wound around a fine, chalky undercarriage, finishing with excellent persistence and a tangy acidity. Presently a little lean and awkward, itÕs made for the duration.
ItÕs arresting enough right now, but this is a remarkably penetrative and concentrated, long-term riesling of purity and focus. Heady scents of lemon blossom, lime and pear precede a pristine but searingly intense palate of lime juice and lemon meringue-like flavour that extends with exceptional length over a fine, chalky spine towards a steely, austere finish of citrusy acids.
Very lean, spotless and pristine, scented with a delicate chalky and floral bouquet of lavender and lime juice. Long and steely, its searingly intense flavours of apple and lemon drive their way down a fine chalkiness towards a taut and tightly focused finish of searing acidity. This wine simply demands cellaring.
Lean and focused, with remarkable purity and intensity; scented with white flowers, lime juice and green apple skin and shaped with style and tautness by a refreshing acidity.
Floral lime, apple and pear with smoky undertones; long, tangy and briskly refreshing.
Dusty, spicy and slatey aromas of estery lime, lemon and apple-like fruit precede a juicy, round and generous palate of fine length and a powdery phenolic backbone. Smooth and silky, but finishes with a faint suggestion of varnish.
Rather awkward and edgy, with a delicate, musky perfumed of lime juice and lemon sherbet before a forward, rather disjointed palate whose fruit appears slightly under and over-ripe. Made from stressed fruit, it finishes with angular acidity and a sweet-sour aspect.
