It takes time after opening for this gentle deeply layered pinot to reveal its true depth of fruit Sweetly oaked its smoky rather herbal bouquet of cherries dark berries and cola overlies nuances of bacon candied citrus and an earthy note Its supple and sappy with a lively juicy pastille-like presence of red cherries cola and citrus zest supported by a fine dusty spine and finished with a gentle acidity There are some herbal edges but the wines core of fruit should steadily evolve and expand
Distinctively mineral and textured this gentle and complete pinot is certain to build more weight and texture with age Delicate aromas of flowers small berries and cherries subtle oak and five spice are underpinned by a pungent minerality that seamlessly supports its smooth and complete palate of pure red berries cherries and a hint of citrus oil It reminds me of some of the finer and more perfumed wines from Mount Etna
