Moderately long, but raw-edged and herbaceous, this leafy expression of small red and blackberry-like cabernet is supported by fine-grained cedary oak, but finishes with green-edged tannins and acids.
Quite deep and developed, this rather old-fashioned and herbal style has an autumnal, oaky bouquet of small berries, plums and cedar/vanilla oak. It has a bright and lingering core of sweet and initially juicy blackberry and cassis-like flavour, and while it’s backed by sweet newish oak, it does finish with distinctly green-edged notes.
Profoundly structured and finely balanced, this long-term Coonawarra cabernet has a violet-like and slightly minty fragrance of cassis, mulberries, plums and smoky mocha/cedar/vanilla oak backed by nuances of dried herbs and menthol. Rather closed and brooding, it reveals layers of small black and red berry fruit artfully knit with toasty, savoury oak and very fine, pliant tannins, leaving an impression of restrained strength and structure. It finishes with dark-fruited suggestions of minerals and graphite.
A powerful, assertive and riper expression of this label, with weight and concentration. Its faintly confiture-like bouquet of blackberries, dark plums and chocolate/cedar oak overlies a graphite-like minerality and a hint of currant. Deep, dark and pure, with intense cassis, mulberry and dark plum flavour backed by sweet chocolate/mocha oak and firm, fine-grained spine of chalky tannins, it finishes with length and brightness.
Already very complex and expressive, with a heady, floral bouquet of cassis, blackberries, dark plums and bramble knit with gamey, cedary oak. Moderately intense but perhaps a shade hollow, itÕs elegant and smooth, framed by fine, firmish tannins with intense mulberry, blackcurrant and plum-like fruit evolving some earthy, leathery complexity.
Profoundly ripened, this oaky and polished cabernet has a slightly minty and herbal fragrance of cassis, mulberries and dark plums backed by assertive notes of cedar and vanilla. Supported by fine-grained dusty tannins, its rather plush, long and smooth palate of minty, cassis-like fruit reveals suggestions of menthol and overripe fruit, but is perhaps over-reliant on oak for richness and sweetness.
Deeply layered and finely textured, this assertive, modern cabernet has a densely packed but rather closed bouquet which flaunts its newish cedar/chocolate oak and whose aromas of cassis, dark plums and blueberries overlie suggestions of mulberries. Its intensely ripened, palate-staining fruit easily soaks up its cigarboxy new oak, moving long over a mineral edge and a firm, crunchy fine extract towards a lingering finish of cassis, cedar and dried herbs.
