There’s plenty of ripeness and flavour about this rather forward and assertive chardonnay, whose ripe and rather buttery aromas are packed with fresh peaches, melons and vanilla oak. It’s generous and juicy, even tropical on the palate, with a creamy mouthfeel that finish with a powdery dryness and a hint of lemon. A step up from commercial, with just a hint of attitude.
Flavoursome, juicy and focused, with a lively and buttery expression of citrus and melon backed by spicy vanilla oak, this spotlessly made wine delivers a pleasing length of vibrant fruit and chalky mouthfeel. It’s already a fraction honeyed, but finishes with crisp acidity.
Delicate, lean and restrained, with a lightly spicy, floral and tropical bouquet of melon, mango, grapefruit and fresh vanilla oak backed by a hint of custard. Long, fine and focused, itÕs fresh and lively but its modest intensity of fruit appears marginally stripped of flavour.
Bright, vibrant and juicy. Almost jammy and bordering lightly herbal, its red and blackberry aromas are framed by restrained cedary oak influences. Smooth and polished, the palate is ever so approachable, silky, soft and rounded, bursting with concentrated and essence-like blackcurrant and plum flavours accentuated with a light spiciness. Hardly Penfolds in style, but you’re not paying St Henri prices.
Smoother, softer and rounder than previous releases, with sweet, rather jammy and confectionary-like aromas of red and black berries, currants and plums, cedar/chocolate oak and a hint of prune. upfront and voluptuous, with generous and lingering fruit sweetness matched with creamy vanilla oak.
Rather warm and spirity for a Penfolds red, this vibrant, juicy and sweet-fruited shiraz of medium to full weight has a meaty and unusually floral aroma of mulberries, blackberries and cassis backed by nuances of black and white pepper. Supported by a fine, dusty chassis and cedar/mocha/chocolate oak, it’s long, complete and dripping with concentrated flavour.
Smoky, honeyed aromas of white peach, apple and spicy vanilla oak precede a viscous, rather dense and concentrated palate whose rich apple and peach-like fruit is handsomely backed by slightly sappy, creamy oak. It finishes with length and softness.
