A lean, taut and focused chardonnay whose sweetly oaked bouquet of peach, melon and green apple overlies creamy, faintly mineral and custard-like notes as well as a hint of vanilla oak. ItÕs slightly candied and forward, becoming long and austere down the palate, slowly opening with more richness and roundness of fruit before finishing with assertive, lemony and faintly metallic acids. Perhaps lacking its customary core of fruit, but should flesh out further in the bottle.
Artfully balanced, already deeply complex and alluring, this is a slightly less funky expression of this wine whose wild, heady fragrance of grapefruit, smoked meats, creamy yeast-derived notes is lifted by a bright floral scent. ItÕs long and mouthfilling, with an unctuous presence of tangy lemon and grapefruit flavours whose core extends long and focused towards a taut, briny finish of brisk, tightly focused acidity.
Handsomely oaked, with a restrained bouquet of peaches, melon and cream, floral and mineral aspects plus a whiff of custard. Round and generous, itÕs elegant and restrained, with a gentle presence of melon, peach and grapefruit-like flavour rather overawed by its oak but finishing with clean acidity and revealing some pleasing smoky and mineral complexity.
Floral and spicy; grapefruit, peach and melon with undertones of coriander, bath salts and nougat; round and savoury with matchstick oak.
Delicate scents of grapefruit, peach and vanilla oak backed by suggestions of cinnamon and charcuterie meats precede a palate whose forward presence of fruit dries out quickly, extends in rather a thin, clipped fashion over a bath salt-like minerality towards a dry, refreshing and pithy finish. Underrepresented in the fruit department for a higher rating.
Stripped and metallic, with smoky aromas of green olives and grapefruit with undertones of vanilla, minerals and charcuterie meats. After some initial intensity the palate becomes short and bitter, finishing raw and edgy with a lingering grippy extract.
