Toasting, ageing characters now marry with herbal semillon influences, There’s a juicy core of melon and lemon, ginger and clove-liked flavour tightly knit with smoky oak and wrapped in lively, clean acids.
Oaky, lightly charry aromas of restrained honeydew melon and lychees. Ripe and juicy but excessively woody, its phenolic palate of melon/tropical fruit finishes with come coarseness.
A wild, musky, brassy fistful of viognier which will please the purist for its cleanness and precision, but perhaps not the traditional drinker of viognier unused to associating these qualities with this grape. Scented with spicy apricot and orange blossom, steeped in spirity, juicy fruit, finishing warm and savoury, it’s punchy but perhaps a little soulless.
Simple, estery aromas of pineapples, lemon detergent and sherbet-like confection are backed by floral and spicy nuances. Juicy, sweet and tropical, its rather candied fruit lacks length and intensity, finishing simple and sweet. Possibly a stuck ferment?
Voluptuous, candied and even slightly spiky, this concentrated and marginally sweet viognier backs its ripe flavours of melon and mango with a dusting of cloves and cinnamon. Avoiding excessive oiliness, it also presently lacks great complexity, but should develop more varietal character with time in the bottle.
Spicy, rather spiky, with high-toned aromas of tangerine, apricot and banana-like esters backed by suggestions of cloves and cinnamon. Smooth, juicy and forward, itÕs rather cooked and candied, with a generous, if angular and sappy expression of rather stressed fruit backed by tinned fruit-like acids and awkward tannins. It appears to have been made from under and overripened fruit.
