A typically honest, generous and slightly jammy Barossa shiraz with a minty, menthol-like fragrance of sweet red berries, plums and cedar/vanilla oak. Its bright, vibrant palate of sweet red and black berry confiture and sweet oak is framed by firmish, fine tannins, finishing long and persistent.
An honest, juicy and slightly meaty shiraz whose musky, meaty dark berry and plum-like fruit tends to rely on its coconut/vanilla oak for sweetness and smoothness. Moderately vibrant, it lacks great length and cellaring potential.
An honest, generously flavoured Barossa shiraz whose ripe, jammy expression of red and black berries, cassis, plums and sweet, lightly toasty vanilla oak reveals meaty, mocha-like undertones. Soft and juicy, its forward and immediately approachable palate has a gentle, fine structure and a lingering finish of small dark fruits, cloves and licorice. Just lacks the length and intensity for a higher rating.
A fine shiraz of genuine regional and varietal identity. A bright, spicy and lightly floral bouquet of blackberries, cassis, violets and chocolatey oak reveals a hint of menthol, while its smooth, generous palate marries deep, juicy flavour with sweet oak and rather polished, pliant and approachable tannins. Very drinkable right now, without a hard edge in sight.
Smoky, meaty and spicy; dense black and red fruits, smoky chocolate/coconut oak and a firmish, loose-knit spine; long and persistent, with classic Barossa style.
