Complex earthy aromas of small red and black berries, smoky vanilla/cedar oak, undergrowth and dusty, herbal undertones. Long and astringent, with a deep, dark expression of small berry fruits, it does however present a herbal aspect suggestive of slightly shaded fruit influences.
Light aromas of mulberries, violets and raspberry cordial with undertones of tomato stalk are supported by restrained cedar/vanilla oak. Smooth and supple, its velvet-like expression of small black and red berries lacks genuine punch and length, thinning out towards a herbal and sappy finish. Sweet vanilla oak lends texture and mid-palate, but the wine doesn’t present the brightness and ripeness expected of its label.
Floral aromas of sweet red cherries, raspberries and violets overlie cedar/vanilla oak and undertones of dried herbs and dark olives. Full to medium in weight, it’s firm and fine-grained, with a vibrant length of restrained small black and red berry flavours, over fine-grained but chalky tannins and tightly knit with dusty, fine-grained chocolate-like oak. Elegant and harmonious, it finishes with a slightly greenish aspect.
A spectacular Margaret River cabernet whose intense aromas of blackberries, plums, raspberries, dark cherries and cassis overlie restrained oak and a slightly leafy suggestion of dried herbs. Vibrant and juicy, it’s smooth and silky, revealing a beautifully handled and elegant palate whose deep, dark fruit qualities are tightly offset by plain chocolate oak and framed by firm, fine loose-knit tannins.
Emerging into a robust, assertive and long-term wine of genuine structure and depth. Scented with dark, brambly aromas of blackberries, cassis, dark olives and polished cedar/vanilla oak with faintly meaty, stony and bony undertones, itÕs deeply layered, firm and very fine-grained. Exuding style and elegance, itÕs densely packed with deep, dark fruits, completing a full, statuesque length on the palate before finishing with hints of dried herbs and dark olives.
Superbly elegant and beautifully balanced Ð an exemplary, deeply layered and long-term cabernet. Lifted by scents of iris and smoky, cedary oak, its alluring perfume of small dark berries, plums, chocolate and vanilla reveals a gravelly background. Long and finely crafted, its generous palate of translucent small berry flavours tightly wound around a firmish, drying spine of gravelly tannins, finishes with length and freshness.
An exceptionally elegant and shapely blend from both Margaret River and Coonawarra fruit, this gentle but pristine young red has the balance and focus to cellar for the long term. Its pristine aromas of violets, cassis, mulberries and dark cherries knit tightly with cedar/vanilla and dark chocolate-like oak, revealing undertones of dried herbs. Supported by fine, faintly chalky tannins, its piercingly intense palate of restrained red berries, cherries and newish oak is wrapped in a racy, almost nervy acidity, culminating in a supple, faintly herbal, sappy and Woodlands-like finish. Very classy indeed!
Heady, concentrated aromas of cassis, dark plums, blackberries and mulberries are knit with fresh dark chocolate oak, unfolding suggestions of spice, dried herbs and a whiff of menthol. Sumptuous and polished, its artfully restrained core of dark plus, blackberries and cassis are integrated with cigarbox/chocolate oak and supported by a firm cut of drying, fine tannins. All the flavour, structure and balance for the very long term.
Bright aromas of cassis, mulberries, dark plums and chocolatey oak reveal a whiff of dried herbs. Medium to fullish in weight, itÕs long and generous, with a deep, dark core of fruit and smoky mocha/chocolate oak supported by fine, drying tannins. ItÕs stylish and savoury, but needs more structure, balance and harmony to be rated amongst the best releases under this label.
