Sumptuous, contemporary Australian claret whose intense cassis/plum fruit is paired to spicy, smoky vanilla oak with suggestions of coffee, chocolate and cedar. Long, fleshy, ripe and smoky, it finishes fine-grained but with a hint of over-extraction.
Developed and leathery, with a weedy undercurrent of herby flavour, this oaky red wine does reveal some lively small berry aromas with some rather greenish shaded fruit characters. Despite a reasonable length of smooth and rather jammy fruit, it finishes without much definition.
Meaty, greenish aromas of over and under-ripened fruit with characters of raisins and currants are backed by sweet mocha/vanilla oak. Simple, forward and currant-like fruit thins out towards the rather weedy and green-edged finish. Rather advanced.
Generous and concentrated, but rather old-fashioned and lacking finesse, this rather blocky and sinewy cabernet reveals a ripe, jammy and slightly meaty bouquet. Earthy aromas of dark plums, cassis and sweet chocolate/mocha/vanilla oak reveal undertones of currant and raisins. Initially intense, but lacking genuine mid-palate depth and presence, it dries out towards an astringent, slightly sappy and mineral finish.
A very stylish, full-flavoured cabernet whose intense, ripe blackberry, cassis, dark plum flavours are tightly knit with polished nuances of dark chocolate, cedar and vanilla oak. ItÕs scented with violets and dried herbs and its smooth, juicy palate is underpinned by a gravelly, fine-grained backbone of drying tannins, finishing with lingering nuances of game meats and bright, slightly confectionery red fruits. Very complete and balanced.
A firmish cabernet with under and overripe influences. Dusty and slightly herbal, its minty aromas of small dark berries and cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak appear quite leafy on pouring. Quite rich, with a solid presence of both meaty and herbal fruit, itÕs underpinned by a slightly edgy spine of angular and metallic tannins, finishing with a moderate length of meaty flavour.
Deeply and densely packed, this elegant and finely textured cabernet has a dark, heady bouquet of plums, wild cherries, berries and creamy cedary oak. Underpinned by grainy, firmish tannins, itÕs sumptuously laden with dark, juicy fruits, finishing with length and balance. Keep it!
Minty aromas of small dark berries and plums backed by cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak reveal undertones of menthol and iodide. ItÕs smooth and polished, with a pleasing length of cassis and dark plum flavour knit with creamy oak and wrapped around fine, firmish tannins. Finishing with a lingering core of flavour and a refreshing acidity, itÕs polished and well made but lacks great charm and complexity.
