Meaty, ripe and smoky aromas of blackberries and dark plums, cloves and cinnamon, fresh cedary and spicy oak are backed by hints of prune and currant. Supported by pliant tannins, itÕs long and firmish, with lingering, deeply ripened flavours of dark berries and plums and smoky, cedary oak finishing with musky suggestions of game meats.
A finely balanced shiraz of medium weight, with depth, character and plenty of newish oak. Smoky aromas of
briary dark plums, cassis and mulberries backed by sweet mocha oak and meaty undertones precede a long, smooth and succulent palate whose almost sour-edged flavours of bright berry fruit are underpinned by fine, chalky tannins. It finishes with length and acidity, but perhaps also a hint of currant-like fruit.
Deep, dark-fruited and gamey, with a deep, earthy and floral bouquet of plums, dark berries and cedar/vanilla oak backed by nuances of mint and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, itÕs smooth and finely integrated, with a pleasing depth of dark, wild and brambly fruits, polished oak and powdery tannins. Just lacks the length for a higher score.
A Rhney shiraz likely to age well, itÕs earthy and savoury, with a peppery, spicy and floral bouquet of black and red fruits, sweet vanilla/cedar oak and a hint of cola. ItÕs long, elegant and dark-fruited, with a smooth, polished expression of intense flavour framed by a firmish, fine backbone and wrapped in a bright, lively acidity.
Earthy and slightly meaty, this polished and richly flavoured shiraz has a musky, faintly peppery and briary bouquet whose aromas of cassis, blackberries and chocolatey oak are backed by a hint of roast meats. ItÕs smooth and polished, long and juicy, but avoids jamminess, culminating in a savoury and mineral finish with a lingering fine grip from its firmish, powdery backbone. A wine of real character.
Deep, ferrous and dark-fruited, with expressions of fiery spice and black, blue and red fruits underpinned by firm, drying, gravelly firm tannins, it’s a long, complete, generous and firm, if rather excessively textural shiraz that if accompanied by a superbly cooked cut of rare beef could almost get away with it. It’s generous and structured but just rather unpolished.
