A modern, more restrained and mineral chardonnay whose lively flavours of white peach, nectarine, lychees and tangerine are backed by restrained creamy and nutty notes, plus a floral, waxy aspect. Its rather fluffy palate of brightly-lit fruit finishes with pleasing persistence, clean acids and a note of mineral.
A contemporary Australian chardonnay whose intense peach, nectarine and honeydew melon-like fruit is underpinned by sweet, creamy vanilla oak, slightly herbal cashew-like nuances and a fine, chalky texture. ItÕs initially quite juicy and concentrated, fine and fluffy, but ultimately finishes rather lean and mineral with lemony acids and a hint of smokiness. Slightly too candied for a higher rating.
Fresh, focused and uncomplicated, with a lightly oaked bouquet of white peach, nectarine and apple with nuances of pear and vanilla. ItÕs smooth, creamy and generous, with a tangy brightness of apple and stonefruit flavour finishing crisp and crunchy, with a clean, green apple acidity.
Very shapely and elegant, with a seamless presence of intense flavour, it reveals a delicate bouquet of pristine tropical fruits, grapefruit and melon backed by nuances of smoked meats, minerals and ham hock. Long and fluffy, its soft, gentle palate of pure, fresh fruit finishes with brightness and freshness plus a lingering impression of beeswax.
A fine, austere chardonnay whose lightly smoky, toasty bouquet of white peach, ginger and clove reveals creamy, leesy undertones and a scent of white flowers. Underpinned by a fine, pulpy chalkiness, its lean, tightly focused palate of juicy stonefruit and citrus flavour finishes long and crunchy, with a bright, refreshing acidity.
A fine, supple and reserved chardonnay with delicate, faintly spicy aromas of green apple skin and pear, olive oil and restrained creamy, nutty oak lifted by a hint of floral perfume and youthful estery notes. Underpinned by a fine dustiness, its gently oaked flavours of apple, white peach and pear extend towards a fresh, crunchy finish.
A forward, rather lean young chardonnay whose zesty bouquet of grapefruit, lemon and creamy vanilla oak reveals nuances of cloves, and green olive. Long and taut, with a fine underlying chalkiness, itÕs made in a faintly hollow modern style that perhaps lacks genuine emphasis on fruit.
A brisk, leaner chardonnay with cool-climate intensity, itÕs scented with smoky aromas of white peach, grapefruit, melon and creamy vanilla oak backed by faintly spicy cinnamon-like notes. Pristine and tightly focused, its long, lively palate of fresh grapefruit, melon and lemony flavour has a fine underlying texture and a taut, tangy finish.
Delicate aromas of white peach, apple and creamy vanilla oak precede a smooth, round and creamy palate whose relatively simple presence of fruit is delivered over an emphatic chalkiness and wrapped in clean, refreshing acids. Just too simple and under-fruited for a higher score.
