An honest, if relatively simple sauvignon blanc whose pristine, faintly herbal aromas of passionfruit, lychees and tropical fruits precede a forward and brightly lit palate whose textbook varietal flavour is wrapped in a brisk acidity and underpinned by a fine lemon pith-like texture.
Balanced, refined and very drinkable blend based around vibrant dark berry fruits, musky spices and appealing black pepper influences. Perfumed aromas of red and black berries precede a supple, stylish palate whose brightly lit fruit and smooth oak are framed by fine, drying tannins. Finishes long, with lingering notes of licorice.
A pleasing expression of this now-popular blend with the potential to develop with softness and charm. Its meaty, floral and earthy fragrance of dark plums, cassis and dark chocolate overlies vanilla oak and an underlying exotic muskiness. Long and smooth, but overlying a firm spine of drying tannins, it’s saturated with bright flavours of dark plums, cassis and blackberries, with lingering savoury suggestions of dark olives and minerals.
Smooth, deeply fruited and savoury, this spicy young shiraz has a floral, slightly meaty and viognier-aided bouquet of intense berry aromas and vanilla oak. It’s deeply fruited and elegant, with blackberry, plum, cassis and licorice-like fruit seamlessly integrated with fine-grained oak and framed by silky tannins. It finishes with length and persistence of fruit.
An honest and flavoursome, if slightly unevenly ripened wine whose slightly jammy, peppery and currant-like aromas offer some pleasing fruit sweetness, lift and spice. Initially deep, smooth and juicy, the palate becomes slightly angular and awkward at the finish, lacking a little generosity and richness.
Floral aromas of raspberries, red cherries, cassis and dried herbs reveal earthy, dusty undertones and a hint of whole bunch ferment jamminess. ItÕs medium in weight, and while it has spicy, savoury Rhne-ish pretensions, its pretty expression of raspberry and cherry flavour does thin out down the palate, becoming a little dilute by the green-edged finish. Just a little too green.
A pretty, short-term and flavoursome red with an intense minty, peppery bouquet of spicy dark cherries, plums, blackberries and blueberries tightly knit with sweet cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak. Smooth and supple, itÕs forward and juicy but becomes slightly sappy and green-edged towards the finish, lacking genuine length and richness.
Smooth and juicy, with a generous complement of viognier. Its deep, alluring and complex fragrance of sweet black and red berries and plums is lifted by a floral perfume, knit with fresh chocolate/vanilla oak and backed by meaty complexity. ItÕs supple, stylish and medium in weight, fine-grained and dusty, with a lingering core of ripe fruit.
Earthy aromas of dried herbs and pan drippings of roast lamb, chocolatey oak and spicy nuances precede a sappy, moderately long and flavoursome palate whose dark plum and berry fruit and mocha oak are framed by a faintly metallic extract, finishing slightly dull and stale. Lacks its customary freshness.
An elegant, polished and measured shiraz blend whose estery, spicy perfume of sweet black and red berries, musky, briary undertones and five spice is assertively backed by chocolate/cedar/vanilla oak. Its long, smooth and faintly herbal palate of juicy small berry fruit is supported by fine tannins and reveals nuances of underbrush and dried herbs. It finishes savoury, with a pleasing length of flavour and lingering note of licorice.
Well-handled and handsomely oaked, but rather dehydrated and lacking fruit brightness. Its meaty, chocolatey aromas of prunes, currants and slightly raw oak precede a smooth but rather short, thin palate whose light redcurrant flavours are overwhelmed by dried-out, raisiny notes.
