Everything you would expect of this great vineyard from this great vintage. Heady, floral and spicy, its deep aromas of red and black cherries, fresh and faintly smoky cedary oak and lifted by musky hints of red rose petals and spice. Deeply flavoured and supremely elegant, its gentle presence of nervy, translucent cherry/berry flavour, fine-grained oak and dusty, pliant tannins culminates in a tightly focused, fresh and savoury finish of exceptional length and harmony.
Long and complete but rather closed and lean, it reveals a faintly smoky and citrusy bouquet of rose petals and cherries. Smooth and polished, with a forward and tight-grained palate of slightly candied fruits, it perhaps lacks the drive and complexity of the finest vintages.
An excellent pinot noir of verve and regionality. Laced with voluminous scents of dark cherries, red berries and tight-grained oak, five spice and rose garden aromas, it reveals suggestions of mineral and cola. Superbly long and underpinned by a grainy chassis of fine tannins, it unfolds a core of purity and impact, remaining a gentle exercise in restrained power. First class purity and definition.
By some margin the most textural, savoury and structural wine released under this label, here is a deeply layered, mineral and musky pinot whose bouquet of black cherries, dark plums and five spice is underpinned by fragrant oak, raspberries and a whiff of citrus oil. Initially luscious and plush in its delivery of fruit, it becomes long and mineral, with a drying, firmish spine of gravelly tannins underpinning its layers of intriguing, vivacious fruit, before extending long and austere towards a firmly defined finish of dryness and drive.
