Very ripe indeed, but able to retain enough sweet fruit to maintain its vinosity and brightness, this smooth, slightly syrupy and tarry shiraz does deliver some fineness and polish. Underpinned by fine, supple tannins, its smooth, juicy expression of blackberries, dark plums and creamy chocolate/cedar oak reveals smoky, meaty undertones, with an underlying thread of peppermint and menthol, mocha and molasses.
This slightly cooked but rich, ripe and flavoursome shiraz delivers a spicy, briary spectrum laden with dark plum and berry-like fruit and smoky mocha/chocolate oak. Backed by a firm rod of fine, drying tannin, it begins with densely concentrated, juicy flavour, remains moderately rich and sumptuous down the palate but thins out towards a faintly baked and metallic finish.
Sumptuous, generous and assertive, with length, depth and strength. Dark and brooding, with a smoky, meaty bouquet of dark plums, blackberries and briar knit with mocha oak, it’s spicy, peppery, and backed by regional nuances of mint and menthol. It’s handsomely oaked but made in rather an old-fashioned riper style, with a juicy, chocolatey palate revealing suggestions of coffee grounds and animal hide. Framed by a fractionally greenish and metallic extract, it finishes with a hint of mineral.
A lighter wine that lacks great length and depth, but delivers a bright pastille-like bouquet of dark berries, redcurrants and plums backed by fresh cedar/vanilla oak, a hint of spice and a whiff of white pepper. Medium to full-bodied, its gentle and relatively simple expressions of red berries and dark plums is enhanced with fresh cedar/vanilla and supported by a dusty, loose-knit backbone.
Finely balanced and already deliciously drinkable, this smooth, supple shiraz has a peppery fragrance of bright, pastille-like small black and red berries knit with charry vanilla, chocolatey and cedary oak and a violet-like perfume. It’s long and elegant, with lively flavours of juicy dark fruits and toasty oak underpinned by fine, dusty tannins, finishing long and balanced with a refreshing acidity. Try to keep it.
Overly oaky, with earthy, spicy and peppery aromas of red, blue and black berries slightly overwhelmed by cedar/chocolate influences. ItÕs velvet smooth, plush and polished, dripping with intense flavours of cassis, dark plums and blackberries but still rather dominated by mocha and coffee grounds oak. Give it time.
Finely balanced and artfully crafted, this charming and tightly focused young shiraz reveals a peppery fragrance of violets and redcurrants, cassis and fresh cedar/vanilla oak backed by suggestions of minerals, cola and a faint meatiness. Underpinned by a crunchy, fine-grained spine, its smooth and translucently bright palate of pristine fruit is backed by a hint of Clare Valley mint, finishing with length, freshness and a vital acidity.
