    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Complex, cedary and smoky with a classically Eden Valley spectrum of cassis, mulberries and dark plums framed by fine, graphite-like tannins. ItÕs developed and leathery, with undertones of mint and boot polish, but retains excellent length and a fiery core of fruit. Still with some time ahead, although some bottles are clearly adversely affect by cork issues.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 1995
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Its deep, almost amarone-like flavour spectrum of plum, prune and an array of exotic spices reflects the extreme degree of ripeness evident in this statuesque and multi-layered wine. Sumptuously laden with polished, smooth chocolate oak, it has a long, complete and highly spiced palate and firm, ripe tannins. A traditional cellar style.

Here’s a very different Mount Edelstone, very thick, wild and brambly. While slightly vegetative under-ripe and jammy over-ripe fruit qualities are each found in this very smooth and concentrated wine, it’s a firm and very well handled savoury red of depth and power.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 1999
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Very rustic, meaty and earthy aromas of wild, briary and minty plum/blackberry fruit are very spicy and carrying a degree of brettanomyces-derived flavour that may concern some. Complete, smooth and savoury, the earthy, leathery palate presents a firm, generous and elegant texture of penetrative minty/menthol small berry flavours, finely knit cedar/chocolate oak and powdery tannins.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2000
    Jeremy’s score 82/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Herbal, dusty aromas of lightly meaty, spicy and sweet small red and black berries with vegetal, menthol-like undertones. Forward and meaty, it reveals a jammy, rather hollow palate whose berry fruit flavours are somewhat subdued by smoky, herbal and camphor-like influences.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2001
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A developing, old-fashioned red whose chocolatey, meaty and spicy aromas of plums, redcurrants and sweet, spicy vanilla and lightly toasty oak reveal nuances of mint and menthol. Earthy and leathery, but built on a solid foundation of firm and slightly drying tannins, it offers rich, spicy flavours of redcurrants and mulberries, culminating in a lingering, if slightly gritty finish.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2002
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A very expressive and classically balanced Eden Valley shiraz whose heady bouquet of pristine blackberries and dark plums, cinnamon and cloves, black and white pepper is backed by coconut ice/chocolate oak and briary suggestions of forest floor. Full to medium weight, its elegant and silky palate delivers an evenly measured and pristine expression of black berries, spices and dark chocolate framed by firm, pliant tannins and finishing with a hint of mineral.
