Here’s a very smart, polished and deeply flavoured young blend with complex briary aromas of dark berries, musk, cloves and almost meaty new oak. Its plush, sumptuous palate of pristinely ripened cassis and plums harmoniously and deftly integrates with new oak and fine tannins.
Elegant and supple, this is a vibrant and fine-grained expression of Coonawarra cabernet and merlot with pleasing gamey and earthy complexity. Its lightly floral perfume of violets, cassis and dark plums is enhanced with sweet cedar/vanilla oak, while its vibrant palate reveals blackberries and dark cherries with a background of cedar and mushroom.
An evenly structured but slightly herbaceous blend whose restrained aromas of small black and red berries, cedar/vanilla oak and mint/menthol undertones precede a smooth and elegant palate framed by firmish, but pliant tannins. It’s tightly knit and structured, but a shade too vegetal for a higher rating and cellaring expectation.
Impressively made, but fractionally cooked and stewed, this slightly dehydrated cabernet blends has a deep, briary and minty perfume of dark plums, cassis and blackberries backed by slightly smoky, grainy new oak and meaty undertones of currants and prunes. Deep and dark-fruited, but lacking great brightness down the palate, it’s robust and powerful, still prune and currant-like fruit is still closed and withdrawn.
Rich, dark and deeply layered, with genuine structure, balance and finesse. Its leathery perfume of dark plums, small berries, dark cherries and cedar/chocolate/gamey oak reveals hints of mineral and mint. Underpinned by a fine, drying astringency, its palate-staining expression of cassis, blackberries and dark plums is tightly coupled with dusty chocolatey oak, finishing long and firm, with and intense core of minty fruit.
Stylish and elegant, with a violet-like bouquet of cassis, preserved small black and red berries and fresh cedar/vanilla oak. Very long and smooth, itÕs underpinned by firmish tannins, delivering a plump, intense core of small dark berry fruits before finishing with focus and balance. A fraction jammy for a higher rating.
Very elegant and finely honed, with genuine length and polish. Scented with minty aromas of cassis, raspberries, red and blue flowers with an underswell of cedary oak, itÕs vibrant, silky-smooth and charming. Brightly lit flavours of small berries knit with fine, dusty tannins, fresh oak and acids, delivering genuine style and balance. Great value.
