Scented with spicy notes of licorice cranberries red and blue flowers its initially vivacious fruit is attenuated by the influence of viognier which contributes to some roughness and aggression around the finish
A fragrant, medium-bodied blend of southern Rhone varieties whose restrained but vibrant presence of blackberries, cranberries, blueberries and briar is lifted by some dark floral scents and backed by suggestions of licorice and dried herbs. Smooth and supple, it is supported by a genuine fine-grained spine and finishes fresh and savoury.
Memorable, rich and beautifully mature, with alluring smoky complexity of ground coffee beans, fennel, sweet leather and cedar. Its chocolatey palate finishes with solid tannins, hints of caramel and bitumen.
Complex, reserved, restrained and a fraction musty, but opens well to reveal excellent length and concentration of leathery flavour and a firm, fine tannic backbone.
Superb, well-bred and aromatic wine whose classic complement of truffly, mushroomy and forest floor complexity mingle with chocolate and sweet leather. Long, restrained and very classy.
A truly great wine of enormous concentration, densely but harmoniously packed with chocolate, camphor and leather, spice and treacle. Vital and vibrant, with a palate bursting with sweet fruit, cigarboxes, cedar and licorice, finishing with exceptional length and integrity.
Sweaty, pungent and spicy, quite advanced and greenish, leathery and reductive, lacking length and drive, now beginning to break up.
