Moderate red in colour, with a sweet rose petal/wet earth nose of sweet cherries, forest fruits and hints of farmyard. Sweet fleshy varietal palate, a fraction stalky, with excellent length of red berry/cherry fruit, but a slightly extractive astringency turning to slight bitterness at the finish.

    Jeremy’s score 90/100

Powerful, richly structured and spicy amarone-like pinot noir revealing great depth of shrivelled prune and raspberry-like fruit, chocolate and vanilla oak and musky flavours. Bordering on the over-ripe, the palate packs great intensity and strength, finishing with a firm grip of fine-grained tannins.

Evolving, firm and quite stalky, with very ripe and lightly stewy aromas of prune and plum fruit, caramel oak. Firm and forward, pleasing weight and texture, slightly fatty, with bright cherry/plum flavours and a powerful grip. Needs time.

Slightly cooked and confectionary pinot with candied aromas of raspberries and cherries over smoky nuances of animal hide and vanilla/cedary oak. Sappy, fleshy and juicy, it’s sweet and ripe, with some creamy viscosity and rather assertive vanilla oak. It finishes with some spirity warmth.

Rustic and dusty, with meaty, herbal fruit aromas and sweet vanilla oak before a simple, herbal and upfront palate whose jujube-like flavours are lifted by sweet oak.

    Henschke Giles Pinot Noir 2003
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Gamey, slightly herbal aromas of raspberries, red cherries and walnut are backed by sweet vanilla/mocha oak and suggestions of white pepper. Supple and juicy, its lively, but fragile flavours of red berries and maraschino cherries lack genuine depth and structure, but make a pleasing early-drinking style with meaty and slightly vegetal complexity.

    Henschke Giles Pinot Noir 2004
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Slightly jammy and confectionary aromas of wild berries, plums and sweet vanilla oak reveal reductive and slightly meaty undertones. Supple and sappy, its juicy Beaune-like palate reveals some pure berry/cherry fruit, but lacks genuine length and follow-through, finishing quite oaky and porty, with creamy, mouth-coating tannins.
