Excellent central Victorian shiraz with a sneezy black pepper aroma of blackberries and dark plums laced with cinnamon, cloves and tightly knit chocolate/vanilla oak. There’s also an earthy and slightly funky meatiness present throughout its sumptuous and intensely flavoured palate of briary and spotlessly clean dark fruit flavours. Framed by velvet-smooth but firm tannins, it’s an excellent wine of first-rate balance and integration.
A spicy, peppery and lightly minty shiraz of considerable meaty, earthy charm and fineness. Its penetrative, floral and musky aromas of blackcurrants and dark plums reveal reductive charcuterie-like undertones, while its palate is classically structured and elegant on one hand; firm and sinewy on the other. Its pure, deep berry flavours are entwined with fine, bony tannins and sweet creamy/vanilla oak, with an undercurrent of mint and menthol.
A minty central Victorian shiraz whose intense aromas of cassis, dark plums, dark chocolate and cedar oak are backed by suggestions of menthol, white pepper, cloves and cinnamon. Its firm, somewhat bony palate is slightly closed, but still delivers ripe dark fruit flavours and polished cedar/vanilla oak over nuances of dried herbs. Finishing tight and savoury, it lacks the depth and complexity of previous recent vintages, but delivers pleasing weight and structure.
Firm and drying, this ripe, meaty and smoky shiraz delivers a ripe, slightly jammy expression of vibrant plum and blackberry fruit without the presence of overcooked characters. Laced with minty and herbal undertones, its briary fruit aromas are underpinned by nuances of smoked meats and mocha-like oak. Enlivened by refreshing acidity, its richly fruited palate finishes with suggestions of chocolate and vanilla.
A long, fine-grained and tightly knit shiraz that belies the challenges of the 2011 season. Its floral, violet-like bouquet of blackberries, cassis and fine-grained smoky French oak reveals briary, peppery undertones, while its supple, long and stylish palate glides a brightly lit and faintly sour-edged expression of dark cherries, plums, blackberries and briar long and gentle towards an elegant, savoury finish of vibrant acidity.
