Plush and classy, neither contrived nor over-ripe; a typically smooth and silky top-drawer red from 1999. Complex and quite exotic, it’s scented with a slightly meaty perfume of violets, cassis, musk and black pepper. Long and creamy, with a minty edge to its dark plum, prune and cassis flavours, it’s enhanced by creamy chocolate oak and framed by firm, but fine-grained tannins.
A major achievement from McLaren Vale’s hottest vintage ever, this finely balanced, vibrant and fine-grained shiraz presents a delightful expression of briary cassis, redcurrant and dark plum flavour with just a hint of meatiness. There’s a light menthol/mint influence, tightly integrated creamy/mocha oak and lingering undertones of saddlery. Framed by firm, bony tannins, it’s long and savoury.
A sumptuous and stylish modern shiraz and a classic reflection of its vintage. Its floral perfume of accentuated cassis, redcurrants, raspberries, plums and dark cherries has a faintly meaty aspect and overlies tightly knit cedar/dark chocolate/vanilla oak with musky undertones of violets, cinnamon and cloves. Silky-smooth and fine-grained; its slightly sour-edged fruit, savoury oak and velvet tannins effortlessly combine, culminating in a long and persistent finish.
A long-term McLaren Vale classic, with a deep, dark and spicy perfume of blackberries, cassis and smoked oyster-like oak overlying nuances of ginger and sage. Deep, dark and brooding, its sumptuous palate of profoundly intense fruit is neatly backed by a silky-smooth cut of tannin, finishing with a slightly salty tang of mineral. It should flesh out superbly over time.
An exercise in balance and structure, this longer-term shiraz has a heady, musky and smoky bouquet whose deep dark core of small, penetrative berry fruit is knit with fresh new oak backed by slightly reductive, funky notes and dusty, chocolatey and spicy undertones. Velvet-smooth, itÕs polished and refined, with layers of sumptuous dark fruit delivered with supreme elegance. Underpinned with fine-grained, mouth-watering tannins, itÕs remarkably long and intense, finishing with lingering notes of cloves, and cinnamon.
A significant movement towards a southern Rhne style, with layers of depth and texture. Evolving and meaty, with earthy, leathery nuances beneath its aromas of dark plums, flowers and berries, pan drippings and white pepper. Long and fine-grained, itÕs supported by robust, bony but pliant tannins, but given a gentle, harmonious complement of oak. An expression of restrained power, it finishes quite savoury, with length and drive.

Cracked pepper and spice, tight-grained oak, dark plums, blackberries, cassis and undertones of roasting meats; densely packed and seamless with a gravelly spine. Sumptuous and mineral, itÕs powerful, concentrated and impactful.
