Impactful and focused, this excellent young chardonnay (90% Upper Yarra, 10% Margaret River) unfolds a sweetly oaked, toasty and buttery bouquet that steadily reveals more pristine citrus and melon fruit backed by suggestions of coriander, spice and vanilla oak. Underpinned by a fine slatey spine, it drives long and austere but delivers a charmingly fatty, generous palate whose vibrant fruit is backed by creamy, nutty oak and wrapped in a faintly mineral acidity. It just lacks the complexity for an even higher rating.

Hardys Eileen Hardy Pinot Noir 2009
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A remarkable wine whose heady perfume of rose petals, black and red cherries, fresh cedary oak and briar reveals undertones of smoked meats and forest floor. Underpinned by pliant, dusty tannins, itÕs long, plush and very intense, delivering deep, mouthfilling flavours that build towards a powerful crescendo of fruit, finishing with firmness and depth. A great combination of power and finesse.

Hardys Eileen Hardy Pinot Noir 2012
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

Rather evolved and funky, with a profoundly intense, wild and almost bloody bouquet of dark cherries and plums, complex meaty undertones and dusty, faintly stalky notes. ItÕs long and elegant, with a smooth, polished presence of bright cherry, plum and berry flavours tightly knit with cedary oak, dusty undertones and a hint of meatiness, finishing with a fresh, finely balanced acidity.

Hardys Eileen Hardy Pinot Noir 2013
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Deeply perfumed and floral, this superb pinot unfolds layers of perfume and flavour. Lifted by spicy new oak, its heady bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, redcurrant and sweet rose petals overlies a dusty background of clove and cinnamon. ItÕs smooth and supple, with an ethereal, translucent presence of fleshy, almost fatty fruit tightly wound around a pliant spine of fine, silky tannin, finishing with remarkable length and smoky, savoury qualities.

Heady, wild and meaty; long and smooth; densely packed with pristine fruit.

    Hardys Eileen Hardy Shiraz 1970
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Still very much alive, a classic wine with a great history. Developing beautifully, its complex musky, meaty aromas of licorice, earth and leather precede a luxuriantly rich, smooth and creamy palate finishing savoury with fine tannins.

Very savoury, earthy and smoky, now drying out. Creme caramel, mocha, chocolate and sweet leather flavours with lingering suggestions of cherry and plum, soft with a firm extract.
